I studied physics and mathematics at the universities of Hannover and Durham (U.K.) as a scholar of the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, 10/2000-10/2004) and during studies in Durham also of the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, 10/2003-10/2004). M.Sc. (with distinction) in Theoretical Particle Physics from Durham. Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of Hannover University. There, I was funded as a scholar within the DFG Graduate College No. 282 "Quantum Field Theory Methods in Particle Physics, Gravitation, Statistical Physics and Quantum Optics" (10/2004-03/2007). In my thesis, I analysed a specific noncompact, nonrational two dimensional quantum conformal field theory which is of interest in the context of certain string theories in curved space-time backgrounds. Immediately afterwards I was appointed Junior Fellow at the Erwin Schroedinger International Institute for Mathematical Physics in Vienna (06/2008-09/2008). Then I changed field to High Performance Computing as a member of scientific staff at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics in Kaiserslautern (10/2008-12/2010). There, I was a project leader within the research project "Innovative HPC Methods and Application to Highly Scalable Molecular Simulation (IMEMO)", funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). My main work in this context was concerned with the development (architecture design and implementation) of a parallelization framework for molecular dynamics and fluid dynamics simulation codes and conducting general research on coordination languages and strategies for parallel computing on various hardware architectures. Further studies in the history and philosophy of knowledge and cultural studies at ETH and University Zurich. Currently, I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair for Science Studies of ETH Zurich.
